Just Breathe
Most of the mistakes in Forex are triggered by emotions. What happens to your body when you start losing money? You get nervous. And this comes with rapid breathing and heartbeat, increased blood pressure, sweaty palms, etc. Classic signs of severe stress. And against this background, we begin to take reckless actions:
- We enter trades without signal confirmation
- We increase the size of the leverage and a trading lot
- We trade out of revenge, open too many orders, etc.
In such a state, trading is strictly prohibited. Unless, of course, you have extra money that you don’t mind losing. So what should we do? Just breathe.
The benefits of breathing exercises have long been proven. This is the fastest way to bet back on track. Your heart rate will return to normal, blood pressure will decrease, thoughts will clear up and you will be able to make informed decisions again.
There are a lot of breathing techniques. The simplest one is inhaling and exhaling at 5. Turn off the charts, sit up straight, and close your eyes. Breathe in slowly through your nose and count to 5. Now breathe out counting from 5 to 1. Continue breathing for 2 minutes. Trust me, once you calm down, it will be much easier for you to get your money back. And most importantly, the breathing techniques work for almost any stressful situation.
Meditation
According to its reputation, meditation is a panacea for all mental problems. And it also makes you incredibly productive. Oddly enough, this is true.
In order for our brain to work at its maximum capacity, it needs rest. Even during sleep, we continue to process piles of information. Meditation helps us temporarily renounce any thoughts and help our brain gain strength.
It is also a time of emotional detachment. Thanks to meditation, the stress level is reduced. It becomes easier to cope with surging feelings which is extremely useful when trading Forex.
If you have not tried meditation before and think it is complete nonsense, I advise you to just try. Throw yourself a 30-day challenge and evaluate the results. Chances are that once you start you won't be able to stop.
A couple of tips for newbies:
- It is best to meditate in the morning. This will create a special mood for the whole day.
- It is optimal to meditate for at least half an hour. But if you have very little time in the morning you can start with 15 minutes. When you become more experienced, meditating for at least 5 minutes will be enough. This is where the advice on getting up early from the last article comes in handy.
- If you don't know how to meditate, just go to Youtube. There you will find many tutorials for beginners.
